Top things to do in Lake District
"If you’re in Carlisle with kids in tow, Hammond’s Pond in the southern Upperby suburb comes into its own in summer. The pond and its surrounding park are on a hill, and has ducks and swans, as well as an aviary and dovecote. You can rent rowboats on the east end of the pond in summer, and the park has a miniature railway that operates in the summer holidays, along with two separate play areas, one for toddlers and the other for bigger kids."
"Styled like an American Diner there is always a friendly welcome here and we love the food. Its American, Mexican, and tasty. Something a little different from your normal Lakeland fair."
"has borrowed one of David Bowie’s names, and celebrates a certain raucous irreverence and artistic flair. The restaurant and bar take advantage of this cool historic building, with exposed brick walls, antique lighting, and plenty of character. Try something from the bar’s playful cocktail menu, like a rhubarb cosmo or a spiced pear mojito."
"This place scores points for the name alone (at least for Bowie fans), although the Duke himself would have been most unlikely to tuck into the burgers, tandoori chicken and flat-iron steak on the menu."
"Bank Tavern is a great dog-friendly pub in Keswick, a fine spot to grab a bite to eat after a long day exploring the local area. The restaurant offers a range of traditional pub food, perfect for couples and families looking for a relaxing time. The bar offers a variety of ales produced by Jennings, a local brewery founded over 200 years ago, ideal for thirsty walkers looking to sample some local beers."
"With a well stocked bar and centrally located in Keswick, The Bank Tavern offers plenty of choice in both its food and its drinks. The pub is full of character and the perfect place to go if you’re looking for that traditional pub feel."
